The Nettlespinner – my ecofeminist retelling of a Flemish fairytale got published
Two weeks ago, one of my short stories got published by Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment. Editorial by the creative arts director: “The first contribution is an ecofeminist retelling of a Flemish folktale foregrounding nettles. The text is written by Wendy Wuyts, who defines herself as an eco-communicator rewilding folktales and restor(y)ing places. In discussing her fascinating methodology, Wuyts mentions that she purposefully lists all the people —including machines assisting with the translation process—who have introduced narrative variants to the fairytale over the past centuries, to emphasize that a fairytale is a fluid, ongoing artwork, often calibrated…

This short story is set in the same world as my fiction books (only in Dutch, De witte droom and De rode regen) and two other short stories (An Apple Tree in Daegu; A Linden Tree in Tongerlo). The short story is…
An Apple Tree in Daegu, Korea: some romantic solarpunk for Valentine
We are still in Brigid’s realm. More solar energy is coming and it is time for romance to blossom. This blog promotes a short story I wrote for Uneven Earth, one year ago, inspired by conversation with East-Asian alternative geographers and my visit to the eastern medicine quarter in Daegu, South-Korea. They liked ”how it blends intellectual ideas (mostly from feminism) with elements of solarpunk”. This week the editors published it: http://unevenearth.org/2020/02/a-wood-wide-web-story-an-apple-tree-in-daegu/ Which stories do I collect, carry, share and guide? Usually I live in Japan for my research, but occasionally I am in Flanders. I am a blogger for…
