NICE TO MEET YOU 💚🙏 Afgelopen tijd heel wat nieuwe volgers, dus tijd om mezelf even terug voor te stellen. Fijn dat je hier bent 🌸🌲 Ik ben geograaf en milieuwetenschapper van opleiding aan de universiteit van Leuven en daarna aan uniefs in Oostenrijk, Thailand en Zweden. Dus een wereldburger, zoals veel mensen me al hebben genoemd. Ik schrijf soms in het Engels, omdat ik ook af en toe in het Engels denk en zelfs droom. Drie jaar geleden kreeg ik een beurs van de Japanse overheid voor een doctoraat circulaire economie. Eigenlijk hebben circulaire economie en bosbaden veel gemeen. Ze zijn voor mij allebei antwoorden op de vraag die de rode draad in mijn leven is. Twee zomers geleden, na mijn eerste jaar in Japan, heb ik shinrin-yoku leren kennen. Toen ik erover las, kreeg ik een klik. Een sterk eureka-gevoel. Dankzij Japanse vrienden heb ik meer geleerd en ook een van de 62 basiskampen in Japan bezocht. Intussen vond ik de opleiding van ANFT die me aansprak, vooral omdat zij de nadruk geven op persoonlijke groei en groepsdynamiek. Tijdens een eerste grote vakantie ging ik naar de Rockie Mountains in Colorado om daar een 6 maanden lang practicum te starten. Intussen heb ik een certificaat en heb ook o.a. technische vaardigheden zoals “wilderness first aid” verscherpt. Terug in Japan kampte ik met heimwee, eenzaamheid en ook veel stress door de werkdruk. Ik vond zelf troost en aarding in bostherapie (gidsen) of door op mijn eentje de ruige en mystieke bergstreken van Japan te verkennen. Daarnaast vind ik een wetenschappelijke basis echt belangrijk, dus ik informeer me grondig. In alles wat ik doe, zoek ik een balans tussen verklaren en verbeelden. Ja, verbeelding. Ik put wijsheid uit verhalen. Vooral van sprookjes en van bossen kan je zoveel leren! Mijn eerste boek “Als Meubels Konden Spreken” heeft een sprookje als basisstructuur. En zowel circulaire economie als bosbaden komen erin terug. Intussen ben ik ook terug in België en werk ik hier verder aan mijn doctoraat. Daarnaast wil ik bosbaden en de gezondheidsvoordelen meer bekend en toegankelijk maken en werk ik aan een portaal website en ben ik wat zaadjes aan het planten... 🌱 WELCOME 💚🌲

Second visit to #roburopdeneik , this time with two other forest therapy guides. There is a calling and a great story behind this place. It reminded me to #shadowcliffmountainlodge in Colorado where I started my journey as forest therapy guide. The place is also born after inspirators got called to build a sanctuary of healing and connections. I feel blessed to have found such place on 35 minutes bicycling distance. I know I will spend here some time. GUIDING A VIRTUAL FOREST BATH 🌳with 30 children (age 10-11) and their teacher was my first activity today. It was different than guiding a forest therapy walk. I was especially happy with my friend who is their teacher and supported with the “sharing little stories” part, because I did not know all their names. The ones who participated in a forest bath I guided, will know what I mean. It is the first time I guided so many people, guided children and did a virtual forest therapy walk. Many “firsts”. So it was a rich experience 😉. I noticed some things were also “firsts” for many of them. The teacher and I asked them beforehand to collect stingy nettles. 🌱 I believe that is something you can recognize easily. We asked the parents to prepare hot water and help to make stingy nettle tea. Listening to the questions I realised not many have made nettle tea or nettle soup before. They asked questions if they can eat the nettles. We said it is ok if they want to try. The only advice we gave was to gather only the upper parts, preferably before knee height. Ooit van #roburopdeneik gehoord? Weet je wat Robur betekent? 🌱In 2011 kreeg Marieke van haar vader een stukje familiebos. Zelf was ze een nomade en had geen chalet voor haarzelf nodig. Na een lang verhaal besloot ze enkele jaren geleden om met andere vrijwilligers aan een plek van rust en genezing te bouwen. Wanneer Robur af is, zal dit een plekje worden om weer tot jezelf te kunnen komen, vooral voor mensen met een burn-out ervan, of voor workshops en bijeenkomsten waar aan burn-out preventie wordt gedaan, en voor kunstenaars/schrijvers die aan hun project willen werken. Vooral projecten die te maken hebben met rust, natuur, genezing en creativiteit zullen voorrang krijgen. Als de kern maar (her)verbinding is. 🌳 Deze plek is op fietsafstand van waar ik nu woon. Ik nam mijn broer mee en anderhalf uur lang luisterden we naar haar verhaal. Mijn broer en ik hingen aan haar lippen. Vanbinnen is het echt sprookjesachtig. Volgende week keer ik terug met twee andere bosbadgidsen om te bespreken hoe dit ook een plek voor bosbaden kan worden. Dan vertel ik zeker nog meer. 🌲Juni gaat een veelbelovende maand geven. Ik ga volgende week een eerste virtueel bosbad geven aan leerlingen van het 5e leerjaar. Ook ben ik in gesprek met “artsen voor duurzaamheid” voor een bosbad en om met hen over natuur; duurzaamheid en gezondheid te praten.
